The PhD defence will be partially digital, in Gamle Festsal, Domus Academica, and streamed directly using Zoom. The host of the session will moderate the technicalities while the chair of the defence will moderate the disputation.
Ex auditorio questions: the chair of the defence will invite the attending audience at Gamle Festsal to ask ex auditorio questions.
Trial lecture
“Parametric verification”
Time and place: October 6, 2025 10:30 AM. Gamle Festsal, Domus Academica / Zoom.
Main research findings
Systems such as robots are deployed in uncertain environments where unexpected situations arise. To deal with these unforeseen events, a system can be designed as a self-adaptive system (SAS) that adapts to changes in the environment and in the system itself. Since SASs are deployed in safety and security-critical domains, it is important to ensure their safety and reliability.
This thesis shows how formal methods can be used to analyse the safety and reliability of SASs that operate in an uncertain environment. Formal methods are mathematically based techniques and tools for the specification and analysis of hardware and software systems. Furthermore, the thesis shows how existing formal modelling techniques can be extended or modified to support reuse of SAS models.
