Main research findings
As our energy systems shift toward sustainability and local control, a new way of trading electricity—called peer-to-peer (P2P) energy trading—is emerging. In this system, regular people who both use and produce electricity (prosumers) can trade energy directly with each other. My research shows how P2P trading can help reduce pressure on the energy grid, lower costs, and support a cleaner energy future. I explored three key areas. First, I developed a new trading model that includes not just households, but also local energy providers and a community coordinator. Second, I studied how blockchain technology can make energy trades safer and easier. Third, I looked at the human side of energy trading. By understanding what motivates people to join and stay engaged, I design an energy system that meet their psychological needs better. This research helps shape the future of smart, people-centered energy systems. It shows that both technology and human behavior matter, and that combining them can make energy trading systems work better for the future smart grid.
