Even though a lot of the students taking the course this semester did not have sufficient background knowledge in statistics (myself included), I would have preferred if more time was spent on the core subject matter rather than spending time on simple statistics.
The second part of the course had some linguistic material, and it seems to me that the number and the depth of the articles proposed in the syllabus was a bit too much. They contain a lot of details and linguistic discussion that a person without a background in linguistics wouldn't appreciate.
