INF4820 - Algoritmer for kunstig intelligens og naturlige språk

Assessment:

Choose a question to see data from the student assessment:

Question: What is your general impression of the course?

Average answer: Very good

Question: What do you think of the amount of work required in relation to a number of credits given?

Average answer: Appropriate

Question: What is your general impression of the quality of the lectures?

Average answer: Very good

Summary:

The students rated the difficulty level as Appropriate to Difficult. They consider the amount of work required as Appropriate, and the quality of the lectures as Very good. The mandatory assignments' difficulty level and the work involved was rated as Appropriate to High, and the number of them as Appropriate. The students agreed that the difficulty of the final exam was Appropriate.

The general impression by the students is that it was a very relevant course with excellent lectures. Many of the students desired that the lecturer used the mouse pointer instead of their hands to point at the slides in the lectures, in addition to repeat questions asked in class to make the screencast better. The majority of the respondents thought they used way too much time struggling with Lisp in the mandatory assigments, which resulted in lack of time to understand and implement the algorithms.

Quotes:

Very helpful, fun and relevant course.
Well thought out curriculum. Excellent lectures.
I like to watch the screencast as well as going to the lectures, but sometimes the lecturers points with their hands instead of with the mouse pointer, which makes it hard to follow on the screencast.
A lot of the time it was more about struggling with Lisp than actually implementing/understanding the algorithms or concepts in the course.

About the course evaluation

The course evaluation is done by students in FUI (Fagutvalget ved Institutt for informatikk), and is based on questionnaires made at the end of each semester.
