Audio, video and other media captured by a device can be security-sensitive and can exposes personally-identifiable information to applications.
Depending on the type of media captured requirements for adequate security safeguards, privacy and explicit user consent must therefore be considered. In addition, technology for "drive-by web" offers the ability to tell how many capture devices there are of each class, and how they are grouped together (e.g. a microphone and camera belonging to a single Web cam) which can be used for fingerprinting a device. This type of information should therefore be protected as other persistent storage (e.g. cookies). Whenever media are being captured, the user should also be given an "on air" indicator.
This project focuses on analysing, evaluating, designing and take part in implementing solutions secure media capture with a high level of privacy. This project is in collaboration with USIT, and you will have one or more supervisors at USIT.
