Academic interests
I am interested in developing and utilizing new materials with exciting properties in new or immature technology. My Ph.D. work revolved around new anode materials for Na-ion batteries (NIBs), such as antimony chalcogenides (e.g. Sb2Se3), and I studied these with the aid of advanced characterization techniques, such as operando X-ray diffraction (XRD), pair distribution function analysis (PDF), and X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS). I am often at the Swiss-Norwegian Beamlines in Grenoble, France, to study the charge- and discharge mechanisms of materials for NIBs.
My PostDoc project is FUNCY-SSB, where I work on lithium thiophosphates electrolytes for solid-state batteries. Please visit our website for exciting news and findings related to the project!
Master projects
Master students welcome! I am looking for curiosity-driven minds interested in gaining a deep understanding reaction mechanisms of materials for Li/Na-ion batteries. Particularly anode/cathodes for NIBs with comprehensive mechanistic insights through operando X-ray based techniques (XRD, PDF, XAS) in combination with electrochemical evaluation in half- and full-cells (i.e., materials vs metal counter electrode, or anode|cathode couplings).
Projects may be related to these subjects:
- High-capacity and high energy density anode materials for Na-ion batteries (NIBs); particularly conversion/alloying materials belonging to group 14 and 15 (Ge, Sn, Sb, Bi) in combination with chalcogenides (O, S, Se, Te)
- Evaluation of NIB full cells; i.e., coupling cathode and anode materials together towards robust and durable NIB cells, and investigating their reaction mechanisms and outlining potential degradation mechanisms
- Solid-state electrolytes
... but other Thesis ideas are also welcomed!
