Jeg forsker på kjemiske reaksjoner som foregår over fast-fase katalysatorer. Jeg er spesielt opptatt av hvordan den kjemiske sammensetningen av det katalytiske setet, dets nære omgivelser og steriske forhold rundt setet, innvirker på hastigheten av ønskede og uønskede kjemiske reaksjoner. Mer enn 85 % av alle kjemiske industriprosesser foregår ved hjelp av katalyse, og innsikten vi får gjennom eksperimentelle studier av disse parametrene kan benyttes til å utvikle enda bedre katalysatorer for morgendagens industri.

Katalysatorene jeg studerer er mikroporøse, og er enten rent uorganiske materialer (zeolitter og zeotyper) eller organiske/uorganiske hybridmaterialer (Metall-organiske nettverkstrukturer, MOF). Forskningen min blir gjort i nært samarbeid med kolleger innen organisk og uorganisk syntese, avansert spektroskopi og teoretiske beregninger.
