The implementation of polymer-based Li-metal batteries is hindered by theirlow coulombic efficiency and poor cycling stability attributed to continuouselectrolyte decomposition. Enhancement of the solid electrolyte interface (SEI)stability is key to mitigating electrolyte decomposition. This study proposessurface-functionalized silica mesoball fillers to fabricate a composite polymerelectrolyte (MSBM-CPE). As a result of surface modification, the polyethyleneoxide matrix benefits from the uniform distribution of the filler, whichprovides a large surface area and Lewis acid sites. Molecular dynamicssimulations reveal that the dissociation energy of lithiumbis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide in the filler is fourfold higher (−1.95 eV)than that of the filler-free electrolyte. Consequently, the MSMB-CPE diffusivityis 30 times higher than its filler-free counterpart. The MSMB-CPE of ionicconductivity of 1.16 × 10−2 S cm−1 @60 °C and a venerable Li-iontransference number of 0.81. The excellent compatibility of MSMB-CPE withthe Li anode is demonstrated by its stable symmetric cell performance underhigh current density (200 μA cm−2 @60 °C) for over 5000 h. Approximately85.60% retention capacity of the [Li/MSMB-CPE/LiFePO 4 ] full cell after 700cycles. Furthermore, compositional analysis reveals that the SEI layer inMSMB-CPE is smooth with fewer by-products at the electrolyte/Li interface.

Lithium-metal batteries are currently recognized as promising next-generationtechnologies owing to their high energy density. Solid polymer electrolytes, particularly those based on polyethylene oxide (PEO), are lauded for theirleakage resistance, safety, and flexible design. Despite the ongoing fire safety-and ionic conductivity-related concerns, a novel noncombustible solidpolymer electrolytes with superior ionic conductivities are introduced herewith additive decabromodiphenyl ethane and zeolite. To enhance themechanical strength and ensure soft interactions at the electrode interface, atriple-layer structure with self-extinguishing properties and robust ionicconductivity is proposed. Notably, the softness at the electrode interfaceintensifies as the LiTFSI concentration increases; this higher concentrationnegatively impacts PEO crystallinity, enhancing the ionic conductivity owingto the presence of free Li+ and TFSI− ions. This novel electrolyte can achieve aconductivity of 1.5 mS cm−1 at 60 °C, maintain anod
