  Reducing diffusion limitations in zeolites is critical to enhancing catalyst activity and stability in commercial applications aimed at meeting current energy and chemical needs. One solution is to decrease crystal size or introduce mesopores to generate hierarchical structures, but the syntheses require complex protocols and chemicals, limiting their yields and acidity. Here, we discuss alternate procedures involving secondary growth techniques to overcome diffusion barriers in zeolite crystals.
