Snow Bridges is a bottom-up initiative launched at the Department of Geosciences at UiO to bring together snow researchers and enthusiasts with the goal of strengthening our snow related research in Norway!
Since its launch, Snow Bridges has quickly gained attention and grown into a broader community with increasing interest from researchers and institutions across Norway. We are very happy to see this growing interest and are excited that the third Snow Bridges workshop is being organized jointly by UiO, NGI, NR, Statkraft, NVE, NORCE.
About
Snow is a unique phenomenon at the intersection of land and atmosphere. This makes it a rich research topic for a wide range of scientific disciplines. The growing Snow Bridges community reflects this diversity, bringing together different perspectives and expertise to better understand snow and its role in Norway’s landscapes, climate, and environment.
We genuinely invite colleagues at all career levels who are interested in snow research and related topics to join our third meeting on the 12th of November 2026. The workshop will provide an informal and welcoming space to share ideas, present ongoing and new research, exchange perspectives across disciplines, and build new connections and collaborations.
We look forward to bringing the growing Snow Bridges community together again and continuing to build bridges across institutions and disciplines!
