PhD Candidate in Theoretical Chemistry
A PhD position is available at Tromsø node of the Hylleraas Centre under the supervision of Ass. Prof. Luca Frediani
The PhD-student will have her/his main work area in the calculation of solvent effect on molecular properties. The work will consist in the development of the underlying theory for the solvent effect (either with QM/MM or continuum methods), implementation of the developed methods in PCMSolver, development of the interface to quantum chemistry programs (both existing and additional ones), use of the integrated programs (quantum chemistry code interfaced to PCMSolver) to demonstrate the new functionality.
PhD Candidate in Applied Computational Chemistry (Catalysis)
The PhD fellow will investigate and design catalysts for organometallic reactions. Main focus is on stereoselective reactions and conversion of small molecules (such as CO2) into useful and industrially relevant products. The candidate will employ quantum chemical methods to study the properties and mechanisms of organometallic catalysts. The insights obtained will be used to develop novel catalysts, in close collaboration with experimental chemists working in-house. The position can be filled as soon as possible. The appointment is for a period of four years.
