Section for Genetics and Evolutionary Biology (EVOGENE)

EVOGENE is a research teaching environment based on a broad range of biological disciplines. However, all our research is united based on genetics and evolution.

The organism as a whole is a central component in our research and teaching efforts. We focus on the relationship between phenotype and genotype - in populations and a broad ecological setting - or in mechanistic nano-biology relations in developmental biology and microbiology. In the merger of classical and molecular genetics with epigenetics and evolution, the research activities in the section are cross diciplinary in their nature and represent state of the art in contemporary biology. The section hosts the Centre for Epigenetics, Development and Evolution (CEDE) and  EVOGENE is also a central component in prioritized inter diciplinary research activities at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, CIME and CELS.
