The aim of the workshop is to get a better understanding of the ‘power of making’. We invite participants to analyze and discuss how the process of ‘making’ is influenced by the design material and by the kinds of ‘seeing’ required in different phases of a design project (cf. Schön’s ‘design moves’); how some design decisions become irreversible; and how by including users’ ways of ‘seeing’ and their choices designers may put themselves in a potentially vulnerable position. How can the ‘making’ in participatory design become more open and accessible to the participating users?
