The position paper should be based on PD projects or ethnographic studies of design work and should address one or more of the following questions:
- What kinds of ‘seeing’ are required in different phases of a design project and how do they influence the ‘making’?
- How does the ‘design material’ influence and shape the process of ‘making’?
- How does the ‘making’ make some design decisions irreversible; how are other design decisions ‘invisible’, hence not open to scrutiny and debate?
- How can we understand the vulnerability of designers from including users, their ‘seeing’ and choices in the making?
- What can we learn from non-technical ways of ‘making’ where users’ influence on the technical implementation is strengthened?
- What are sources of creativity in PD and how are they linked to the power of the designer?
A more detailed version of the questions is found here.
