Dashboards and Platform-Based Decision Making in COVID-19

Ministries of health globally (including in Norway) use the DHIS2 platform for disease surveillance. The main interface for decision-making focuses on the dashboard, a visual representation of aggregated data showing relevant indicators for healthcare planning. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the dashboard has been crucial in tracking data for decision-making.

This project is an exploratory case study of the design and use of dashboards for decision making in the health sector focusing on the COVID-19 pandemic. It will start with a review of the literature on dashboards including previous Oslo HISP MSc and PhD dissertations. This process will result in the selection of a suitable evaluation framework for analysis of the challenges and effectiveness of dashboards supporting decisions during the pandemic. Activity may involve fieldwork in Norway and/or other countries subject to travel restrictions and the interests of the students. It may be linked to a project within the Norwegian Institute of Public Health.

Who is this for:

One or more students with an interest in information systems, human-computer interaction (HCI), visualization and decision-making.
