Portable Real-Time Radiation-Monitoring Device for Space

The natural radiation in space threatens satellites, materials, and astronauts. Space missions need devices for radiation alert and forecast to protect these sensitive objects. The goal of this project is to design and build a portable/wearable real-time radiation-monitoring device for space. The device will be based on a silicon diode (standard off-the-shelf), an integrated circuit (from IDEAS) and a low-power micro-controller with A/D converter. The objectives are to design the hardware and software from existing components, to build and test the prototype and to document the results obtained in the lab.
