NFC antenna design

The NANO group has recently developped an ASIC to control a bladder-implant. It reads out a sensor measurig bladder pressure and transmits the data via a near-field communication (NFC) link to a smart phone or smart watch. However, it's NFC antenna has not been carefully designed and as a consequence it's range is at the moment limitted to below 1cm and insufficient for implantation.

The project shall redesign the antenna for efficient communication. A first step might be simply to tune the capacitor in the LC circuit,but ultimately a new PCB shall be designed that allows NFC communication over a couple of centimeters.

The candidate should have some experience with PCB design and RF modelling.
