The goal of the thesis is to develop an installation in cooperation with the artist Helle Siljeholm (https://www.munchmuseet.no/munch/maskinen-er-oss/helle-siljeholm/). The main idea is to use the library’s resources published by the building researchers and, analyzing the keywords, decide how positive or negative the research is. The special installation idea by Siljeholm to be refined will be disclosed at the start of the thesis work and will present the articles in an artistic and innovative manner. Several research perspectives are interesting:
• Visualize research activities in the new Life Science building. Systemic Thinking, Critical Thinking, or practice theories are relevant approaches to understanding the activities. A Design Thinking approach can support the development phase.
• The library as a platform to bridge disciplinary cooperation. Service design can be the nerve of this perspective.
For this master's project, we are looking for a team of master's students. You don’t have to be an artist to participate in this project! We are looking for students that together provide the required skill set for this project, such as prototyping, programming, creativity, machine learning, and who have an interest in the contextualisation and visualisation of data in a designerly and informative manner. The aim is to have a maximum of two students working on the project, forming an interdisciplinary team.
Supervision
We regard the social aspect of doing a master's thesis as important as the academic aspect. As supervisors, we will offer you an engaged and inspiring environment in the Sustainability Lab as well as access to experts when needed, such as people knowledgeable about materials, Artificial intelligence, and visualisation. We have a budget for the purchase of materials, tools, and other stuff needed to implement the project.
