Det overordnede målet med forskningen min er å avdekke de molekylære mekanismene som ligger til grunn for bærekraftsrelevante katalytiske reaksjoner og å utnytte denne kunnskapen til å lede utviklingen av nye nanostrukturerte materialer. Min primære eksperimentelle metodikk er avhengig av tidsoppløste, forstyrrelsesforbedrede teknikker innen katalytisk kinetikk (TAP) og in situ spektroskopi (AP-XPS, IR, XAS). Eksperimentelle studier kombineres med flerskala modellering for å oppnå omfattende forståelse av relevante fysisk-kjemiske fenomener gjennom streng datatolkning. Spesifikke katalytiske reaksjoner og materialer av interesse inkluderer for tiden zeolitt- og MOF-katalysert alkenomdannelse, metall- og oksydkatalysert hydrogenering av karbondioksid, samt selektive oksidasjonsreaksjoner på bimetalloverflater og komplekse metalloksider. I takt med applikasjonsdrevet forskning undersøker vi de grunnleggende aspektene ved dynamiske prosesser i reaksjons- / diffusjonssystemer og utvikler neste generasjons verktøy for materialkarakterisering.
