They investigate the Universe through space telescopes and theoretical models
Aug. 13, 2020 2:50 PM
The Institute of Theoretical Astrophysics welcomes two new members of cosmology and extragalactic astronomy group. Ismael and Renate will create mocks of cosmological data, and explore alternative cosmological models.

First direct observation of elusive waves reveals the energy channels in the solar atmosphere
Feb. 18, 2020 12:24 PM
For the first time torsional Alfvén waves have been directly observed in the solar corona by a team of researchers from the University of Oslo and the University of Warwick. The discovery sheds light on the origin of magnetic waves and their role in the heating of the Sun’s outer atmosphere, the corona.
60-year-old mystery of Sun’s magnetic waves is cracked by scientists
Dec. 11, 2019 2:11 PM
Solar physicists have uncovered how the Sun’s magnetic waves strengthen and grow as they emerge from its surface.

Santiago Ismael Ferrero creates mocks of cosmological data
Aug. 7, 2020 11:52 AM
"Create realistic mocks of what the telescope will observe is crucial for a correct analysis of the data. That is the biggest challenge."
Renate Mauland-Hus studies alternative cosmological models
Aug. 7, 2020 11:51 AM
"Since I did both my bachelor’s and master’s degree at UiO, and then decided on doing a PhD here, it might be easy to tell that I like Oslo and ITA a lot."
