Dear DEEP members

This is our very first DEEP newsletter informing you of what has happened and what events and deadlines are coming up.

One of the most important tasks at the moment is informing all potential members about DEEP. The Research School is an offer to all PhD students and their supervisors working on solid Earth and planetary science and we need help to reach out to everyone.

We are also working on establishing our first workshops and General Assembly. Hopefully there will be a mentor day in September/October, a workshop on writing for publication in January, we will gather in Geilo in February for the first General Assembly and we are working on the possibility of a workshop in the newly established Ivar Giæver Geomagnetic Laboratory.

All DEEP partners and contributors will have the possibility to offer courses, seminars and workshops. Please contact me or Stephanie if you have any suggestions, wishes or already taught courses that would be suitable.

- Anniken (Administrative coordinator)

In the beginning of May all national partners and collaborators gathered in Oslo for the very first DEEP meeting. Apart from getting information about DEEP, we discussed the management of our research school, themes for workshops, structure of our General Assembly and recruiting strategies.

To offer PhD students within solid earth and planetary sciences a better course portfolio we have established four new courses at CEED, UiO, that will be open to all DEEP members.
