BIO: Diana Saplacan Lindblom, Ph.D., is a researcher at the University of Oslo, at the Department of Informatics, Robotics and Intelligent Systems Research Group (ROBIN). She currently works in the Vulnerability in Robot Society (VIROS) research project and in the Ethical Risk Assessment of Artificial Intelligence in Practice (ENACT).
VIROS investigates privacy, safety, and security aspects related to the use of robots in home- and healthcare services, where her main role is to conduct research with users outside of the lab, bridging the legal and technical aspects.
In ENACT, she works towards developing a methodology for implementing ethical AI in various organizations, together with other academic partners (SINTEF, HIOF, NTNU) and industry partners (DNB, Posten, NAV, Medsensio, Hypatia Learning).
During Spring 2023, she was a visiting researcher at the Human-Robot Interaction Lab, Department of Social Informatics, Kyoto University, Kyoto, Japan, and a guest researcher at Tohoku University, at the Frontier Research Institute for Interdisciplinary Sciences.
She received her Ph.D. degree (2020) from University of Oslo, Norway, in the Design of Information Systems (DESIGN) Research Group. Her Ph.D. thesis title is: "Situated abilities: Understanding Everyday Use of ICTs". Her Ph.D. trial lecture title was: "The Role of Language-Games in Universal Design: Theoretical and Practical Issues".
Her current interests include user studies in Human–Robot Interaction (HRI) and Human-Robot cooperation, digitalization of home- and healthcare services, robots as welfare technologies, ethics regarded through Universal Design principles, inclusion, and accessibility in HRI.
