We are delighted to welcome Dr. Shuguang Zhang. He will give the lecture:
"The Simple QTY Code"
Structure/function studies of membrane proteins require detergents after removing them from cell membranes. Dr. Zhang and his team invented a simple tool, the QTY code, that is named for three amino acids: glutamine (Q), threonine (T), and tyrosine (Y) for making water-insoluble domains become water-soluble without detergents. The variants maintain stable structures and ligand-binding activities, so this is very exciting!
