2016
First week of November the Norwegian Research School DEEP arranged its very first intensive course for PhD students. The course Planetary Physics and Global Tectonics is the first in a series of new courses established by the school.
We are happy to inform that Hanne H. Christiansen from UNIS and Charles Lesher from Aarhus University have said yes to join our steering board as external members for the next two years. Their long scientific experience will benefit us greatly as we are building up our research school.
DEEP partners at Aarhus University are offering a unique two week course for PhD students 3 – 14 October. They gather PhD students working in both petrology and geophysics from around the world. The application deadline for 2016 is 26 August!
In the beginning of May all national partners and collaborators gathered in Oslo for the very first DEEP meeting. Apart from getting information about DEEP, we discussed the management of our research school, themes for workshops, structure of our General Assembly and recruiting strategies.
To offer PhD students within solid earth and planetary sciences a better course portfolio we have established four new courses at CEED, UiO, that will be open to all DEEP members.
In April 2016 DEEP hosted the very first course for the research school. The 20 participating students were from a wide range of European institutions.
Hans Jørgen Kjøll has won the 2015 'Outstanding Student Poster award of the Tectonics and Structural Geology Division'.
