As a PhD student member you have the opportunity to apply DEEP for travel and research grants for activities not offered by DEEP and relevant for your PhD.

The upcoming application deadline for DEEP travel and research grant for 2018 is 15 January.
Together with a network of seven research schools, DEEP offers an intensive 3-day PhD course in science communication from 24 - 26 January 2018 in Bergen.
DEEP is organizing the PhD workshop "Writing for Scholars" in Spring 2018. The workshop will increase your understanding of what scholarly writing is all about, how you can get more out of the writing process, and how you can most effectively reach your audience.
The Norwegian research school DEEP offers an intensive PhD course on Solid Earth - Fluid Earth Interactions (5 ETCS credits) 16 - 20 April, 2018, in Oslo.
DEEP members are invited to participate at the intensive course GEO-8131 Deformation processes (5 ECTS credits) at University of Tromsø. The course will take place from 26 February to 2 March 2018.
Registration deadline for the course is: 1 December 2017.
DEEP welcomes all members to the second general assembly 7 to 9 March 2018. This year the annual meeting will take place at Hurtigruten travelling from Bergen to Trondheim.

November 6 - 10 2017 the Norwegian research school DEEP offers an intensive course on the composition and evolution of the lithosphere and asthenosphere in Oslo with Valerie Maupin as lecturer.
The CHESS Research School invites DEEP members to join their Advanced Statistics Training course at the University of Bergen in August.

September 11 - 15 2017 the Norwegian research school DEEP offers an intensive course on large igneous provinces and their environmental impacts in Oslo. Henrik Svensen, Trond Torsvik and Hope Jahren are among the lecturers.
Every year the PhD student members of DEEP will elect their own representatives in the DEEP steering board. For 2017/2018 Geertruida ter Maat and Joost van den Broek was elected.
In February 2017 thirty members of the research school DEEP gathered at Dr. Holms Hotel, Geilo for the first General Assembly in the research school network. Networking, lectures and a workshop were on the agenda, and some skiing of course.
