About the management:
The Head of Department is the leader of the Department of Geosciences and is Joseph Henry Lacasce (from May 2025). Professor Bernd Etzelmüller is the deputy for the Head of Department. The Head of Department position is a fixed-term position. The head of department (or, in their absence, the deputy head) chairs the department board.
Associate Professor Ingrid Anell is the Head of Education for the studies with overall responsibility for the study programmes at the Department of Geosciences.
The department’s Head of Office is Trine-Lise Knudsen Gørbitz. The head of office is responsible for the administrative management of the department and is also the local employer for the technical and administrative staff. The head of administration serves as secretary to the department board.
The department’s seven scientific sections
In addition to the central management of the Department of Geosciences, there are the heads of the department’s subject sections. All research, teaching, and other scientific activities originate from and are organised within our seven subject sections.
