Suprabasins

Sedimentary response to growth of major extensional fault systems

Forkastninger i rifter og langs riftmarginer har sprang som er mye større (>10 km) enn forkastninger som avgrenser halvgrabener, som er de som vanligvis er av interesse i studier av riftbassenger. Utviklingen av denne typen strukturer, både nedflanks og lateralt, samt de sidestilte syntektoniske bassengene, er bare delvis forstått. Formålet med denne studien er å se nærmere på høydeformasjoner som er lokalisert langs riftmarginen på norsk kontinentalsokkel, med fokus på Utsira-, Loppa og Frøyahøyden, som også omfatter interne og tilgrensede sedimentbassenger.
