Academic interests
I am a climate scientist studying the coupled climate system, with a background in atmospheric and oceanic dynamics and heat transport. My work combines analysis of complex Earth System Models with simplified mathematical and numerical models to understand interactions between the atmosphere, sea ice, and ocean, and their role in climate feedbacks, Arctic amplification, and tipping points.
Recently, I have focused more on interdisciplinary approaches, including integrated assessment modeling. I am part of the EU Horizon WorldTrans project developing the new integrated assessment model FRIDA, which emphasizes feedbacks between humans and the climate system.
I also hold a 20% researcher position at the Norwegian Meteorological Institute, coordinating the Norwegian Earth System Model (NorESM) development team. I contributed to NorESM2 for CMIP6 and am currently involved in preparing NorESM3 for CMIP7.
