We are involved in many national and international research projects, working with both academic and industrial partners in an effort to reduce emissions of harmful chemicals into the air. We currently investigate chemicals emitted from CO2 capture, rubber particles emitted from automobile tires, hydrogen emitted from the rapidly evolving hydrogen industry, chemicals in indoor air, and chemicals emitted from new types of combustion engines.
We offer three types of Master projects in our group:
-
Analytical method development and characterization:
- You will develop, optimize or characterize a chemical-analytical method for measuring trace chemicals in the atmosphere (focus on laboratory work)
-
Atmospheric measurements:
- Your will measure trace substances in the Earth’s atmosphere, apply quality assurance methods, analyze and visualize the data, and provide a basic interpretation of the observations (focus on field/laboratory work)
-
Atmospheric data analysis and interpretation:
- You will work with an existing set of atmospheric data, use basic and advanced methods for data analysis and visualization, interpret the atmospheric data and put them into a literature context (focus on office work).
The specific topic will be defined in personal discussions with your main supervisor, Prof. Armin Wisthaler (V126, armin.wisthaler@kjemi.uio.no)
External Master projects can be carried out at NILU (www.nilu.com) and NIVA (www.niva.no)
