IT services at the Department

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 Jan. 18, 2020

    Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 is the version of Linux offered at the department. The Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) base is the only Linux platform supported by UiO and it provides UiO and the department of mathematics a unified platform between computing nodes, the Abel Cluster, servers, and desktop clients.

  • Audio-visual equipment Aug. 31, 2018

    The Department of Mathematics have a number of rooms with audio-visual (AV) equipment. These come in three flavours: Seminar rooms, meeting rooms with video conferencing support, and end-of-hall spaces.

  • Slow network / Slow computer Nov. 13, 2014

    After the transition to IP telephony we have had a few situations where the machines behind the phones have been slow. Often the problem is the phone itself and resetting the phone usually helps. At other times, using webmail towards mail.uio.no causes problems.

    The Department of Mathematics has 5 multifunction printers (Ricoh MP C Series) that scan and print in color.

  • Scheduled downtime, Saturday the 18th of January 2020 Jan. 8, 2020

    On Saturday the 18th of January 2020, linux office computers will be reinstalled with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.

  • The module python-ml has been updated. June 11, 2019

    The module "python-ml" is a unified python module for machine learning at the department of mathematics, superseding the specific modules for tensorflow, pytorch, and other libraries.

  • Login issues Apr. 2, 2019

    A central configuration error led to issues logging in to Linux machines between 18:03 and 18:31 today.

  • Infrastructure work Sep. 10, 2018

    On Wednesday the 13th of September 2018, between 17 and 20, there will be maintenance on the network infrastructure at UiO. This may cause temporary connectivity issues for services across campus.
