DEEP congratulates former DEEP PhD members having finalized and successfully defended their theses.
The 3rd DEEP general assembly took place in March 2019 in beautiful Tromsø and Sommarøy. This was an excellent arena for the 40 participants to meet and discuss cutting-edge research ideas and methods in the field of dynamics and evolution of the earth and planets.

This summer 15 students participated in our “Arctic tectonics, volcanism and climate” course hosted by UNIS at Svalbard and arranged by NOR-R-AM and DEEP. On 6 - 7 September 2018, I attended a scientific writing and publishing course run by Nature Masterclasses. After two fully packed days of lectures, discussions and one to one sessions, I left the course motivated with a clearer idea of how to improve my writing and editing skills.

The PhD course "Arctic tectonics, volcanism and climate" was held early August in the high north. The intensive week-long course held in Longyearbyen, Svalbard, brought together 15 students and 11 lecturers from 9 universities around the world. The course was funded through the DEEP Research School and the NOR-R-AM project, and UNIS.

The 2nd DEEP general assembly took place in March 2018 on Hurtigruten travelling up the coast of Norway from Bergen to Trondheim. This was an excellent arena for the 50 participants to meet and discuss cutting-edge research ideas and methods on the field of dynamics and evolution of the earth and planets.
The intensive DEEP course GEO-DEEP9100 on planetary physics and global tectonics will be offered Oslo 24 - 28 September 2018.
August 3 - 10 2018 the Norwegian research school DEEP offers an intensive course on Arctic tectonics, volcanism and climate addressing the diverse geological history of the Arctic region, including both onshore and offshore regions from Paleozoic to recent times.
As a PhD student member you have the opportunity to apply DEEP for travel and research grants for activities not offered by DEEP and relevant for your PhD.
