After endless Zoom and Teams meetings there was much excitement about this year’s Geolearning Forum. Though digital tools have many advantages they cannot replace the shaking of hands, eating and drinking together, and all the non-verbal cues humans use to communicate when they meet in person.

Tired of zoom meetings and home office, RoCS PhD student Rebecca Robinson arranged herself a job on the Hurtigruten as an Expedition Lecturer. The lectures on the Sun and the Northern Lights are part of the doctoral degree at the Department of Theoretical Astrophysics.

In an issue of the Norwegian journal Naturen published today, researchers from CBA present their work to the general public. Topics include climate modelling, browning of the Arctic and freshwater resources, thawing of permafrost, bacterial communities in lakes and pollution effects on green plants and much more.

The new innovation unit the Life Science Growth House at MED and MN will offer guidance and tools to help researchers and students mature early-stage innovation ideas. The unit will create meeting places between academia and business and contribute to strengthening the interaction in UiO's internal and external innovation ecosystem. In this way, the faculties will contribute to a positive innovation culture and to put more knowledge into use. The Life Science Growth House will be launched in February and will open its doors in March 2022.
