This edition of the PhD and Postdoc Breakfast Club can help you in job applications, projects and collaborations within and beyond academia.
Msc. Hans Vigeland Lerum at the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, is defending the thesis « Removing Contaminants from non-ideal Hydrometallurgical Solutions – Assessment of Cd (II) Liquid-liquid Extraction with Aliquat 336 in Toluene» for the degree of Philosophiae Doctor.
Dr. Ville Mustonen, Professor at the Department of Computer Science and Institute of Biotechnology, University of Helsinki and the Helsinki Institute for Information Technology, Finland, will present the lecture "Using computational methods and evolutionary theory to combat drug resistance."
Dr. Evangelia Petsalaki, Group Leader at EMBL-EBI, will present the lecture entitled "Integrative studies of context-specific signalling."
Msc. Emil Sebastian Gutterød at the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, is defending the thesis « On the hydrogenation of CO2 over Pt-functionalized UiO-67 Metal-Organic Frameworks» for the degree of Philosophiae Doctor.

For a three-day writing seminar beginning Monday 4th May, UiODOC will collaborate with Mathew Stiller-Reeve PhD (who runs writing workshops for early career scientists) to provide a virtual space for PhDs and postdocs to meet up, learn and discuss writing. This virtual space will be packed with useful activities like:
-Lectures on writing skills
-Brain warm-up exercises
-Shut-up-and-write sessions
-Small discussion group meetings
Dr. Florian Markowetz, Group Leader of the Integrative Cancer Biology team at the Cancer Research UK Cambridge Institute, Cambridge, UK, will present his current research.
Msc. Kaiqi Xu at the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, is defending the thesis «Artificial photosynthesis – Advanced nanomaterials and use of biocatalysts for novel photoelectrochemical cells» for the degree of Philosophiae Doctor.
Msc. Gurpreet Kaur at the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, is defending the thesis «Optimization of UiO-67 type Metal-Organic Frameworks for Catalysis» for the degree of Philosophiae Doctor.
Msc. Sigbjørn Løland Bore at the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, is defending the thesis "Advances in the Hybrid Particle-Field Approach: Towards Biological Systems" for the degree of Philosophiae Doctor.

The PhD completion seminar is a full day seminar for PhD candidates at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences supporting them in the final period of writing the popular scientific summary, preparing for and executing the trial lecture and defence.
