In early 2023, the editor of the Scandinavian Journal of Information Systems (SJIS) became aware that a fake clone of the journal had started to operate, tricking authors into paying article processing fees, rapidly publishing hundreds of papers, and replacing SJIS’ online presence. Join us in this Open Science Lunch session to learn more about journal hijacking, and some possible response strategies to this growing threat to open publishing. 

Vilde Mari Reinertsen will defend her thesis "Theory and modelling of plasmonic response in nanoparticles for plasmonically enhanced photocatalysis" for the degree of Philosophiae Doctor at the University of Oslo, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences.

Professor Bernt Øksendal is a globally celebrated mathematician and pioneer in stochastic analysis and financial mathematics. His groundbreaking contributions, particularly in stochastic differential equations and their applications, have profoundly influenced research and education. His seminal textbook on stochastic differential equations remains a foundational resource for mathematicians worldwide.

Aldo Solari is Professor of Statistics at the Department of Economics, Ca’ Foscari University of Venice. He holds a degree and Ph.D. in Statistics from the University of Padova and began his academic career at the University of Milano-Bicocca, where he was appointed Professor in 2020. His research centers on the development of statistical methods with applications in biostatistics, genomics, and neuroscience. He has received the Hans van Houwelingen Biometry Award and the Rita Levi Montalcini Award.

Hylleraas seminar, hosted in Tromsø

REAL gruppelærerstart er et seminar for studenter og ansatte som er gruppelærere i emner ved MN. Seminaret gir inspirasjon og gode verktøy for å komme i gang med et godt læringsmiljø i gruppetimene allerede fra start. 

I denne åpne forelesningen bruker Jennifer McWeeny Simone de Beauvoirs fenomenologiske tilnærming for å utforske hva en kvinne er, uavhengig av biologisk determinisme og sosialkonstruksjonisme. 

“Tuning and control of quantum emitters in silicon carbide using schottky barrier diode”

Virasoro constraints were recently formulated for moduli of sheaves. The main difference compared to Gromov-Witten theory lies in the linearity of the former which allowed us (B.-Lim-Moreira) to derive sheaf-theoretic constraints from the geometric vertex algebras of Joyce. Our approach applies to more general linear categories. For both sheaves and representations of quivers, I will explain that Virasoro costraints determine primary states of the vertex algebra. This is already sufficient to illustrate the formulation for any linear theory, and it leads to the proof of many results via wall-crossing.

Utforskende undervisining har fått mye fokus de siste årene, både i skole og høyere utdanning. Men hva er det og hvordan praktiserer vi utforskende undervisning til det beste for studentenes læring? 

Sentrale aktører fra forskning, næringsliv og politikk samles til en viktig debatt om verdiskaping gjennom helsedata.

En nasjonal strategi for kvanteteknologi er på trappene. Møt sentrale aktørerer som diskuterer hva bør vi prioritere.  

Norge trenger økt verdiskaping og nye grønne arbeidsplasser. Helsenæring er en del av løsningen for Norge. Samtidig ble det allerede tidlig høsten 2024 slått ettertrykkelig fast at Europa må øke konkurransekraften. Hva er det da som gjør at vi ikke klarer å ta ordentlig sats for å få fart på innovasjonen og verdiskapingen? 

Research on the construction and development of teaching identity has recently sparked a growing interest in science education due to its influence on the development of teaching strategies and its direct impact on student learning. Particularly in Secondary Education, pre-service teachers (PSTs) face a duality between their identity as students and their identity as science teachers, which gives rise to difficulties during teacher education programs. These difficulties are mostly related to the change in professional identity, the teaching model they aspire to, and their previous professional experience.

The summit provides a unique opportunity for PhD students within Health Sciences across the Nordic countries to meet, engage in scientific discussions and to build networks.
