This summer, the space probe Solar Orbiter took the closest pictures ever taken of the sun. The images will help researchers understand the sun better. Professor Mats Carlsson at RoCS - Rosseland Center for Solar Physics, UiO, leads the Norwegian research group's work with Solar Orbiter.

For the second time in its mission so far, the ESA/NASA Solar Orbiter spacecraft has flown through the tail of a comet. A mission that includes RoCS - Rosseland Centre for Solar Physics.

A month before the national lockdown in March, Atul Mohan started working at the EMISSA project at RoCS, UiO, as a Postdoctoral Fellow.

The spacecraft Solar Orbiter spotted a ‘tube’ of cooler atmospheric gases snaking its way through the Sun’s magnetic field.

Her name is Maria Guadalupe Barrios Sazo, but she goes by Lupe. She has come all the way from Guatemala to work as a Research Software Engineer at RoCS - Rosseland Centre for Solar Physics.

With 71 people from 21 countries spread over four continents, the researchers at the Center for Excellence in Research kept a high pace.

He did his research at CERN, Geneva, within beam and accelerator physics. Now Sondre Vik Furuseth, Postdoctoral fellow at RoCS, will use his knowledge to attempt simulating the whole Sun.

The sixth annual report of the Rosseland Centre for Solar Physics (RoCS) was published on April 1st. With 61 individuals from 19 different nationalities across three continents, the researchers at this Center of Excellence continue to maintain a high pace.

A new article by professor Mats Carlsson at RoCS, among others, was recently selected as a highlight in the scientific journal "Astronomy & Astrophysics".

The flyby on 27 November went well and placed Solar Orbiter onto the correct orbit for its science phase to begin. RoCS - Rosseland Centre for Solar Physics, UiO, takes part in the mission. 

Rebecca Robinson worked as a science communicator on Hurtigruten Expeditions during the Coronavirus Pandemic. This autumn she returned to a much loved job.
